Monica Ponce joins faculty as Upper School Spanish teacher

Mónica Ponce Risa returns to the Rabun Gap community to teach Spanish at the Upper School.

Ms. Ponce Riza lived at Rabun Gap from 2011-2017 with her husband Ozu and their son before moving back to her home country Mexico. She taught ESL and Spanish to international students at Colegio Inglés in Mexico from 2018-2022, and taught high school math in 2017. She earned a Masters Degree in Neuroeducational Psychology from Instituto Superior de Educación and a Bachelor in Music: Flute Performer from the Escuela Superior de Música y Danza de Monterrey. Ms. Ponce Risa also holds an Educational Innovation Certification from Tec de Monterrey and a Public Accountant degree from Universidad Autonoma de Nuevo Leon. Ms. Ponce Risa is an accomplished flutist; she taught music theory and flute for 12 years before coming to Rabun Gap. 

In her free time, she enjoys playing word games, spending time with her family, and cooking Pinterest recipes with her son. She will live in Ernest with her husband, Ozu and their son, Isaac ‘31.
