Junior Boarding

Middle School Boarding That Feels Like Home
Supportive. Fun. Built Just for Grades 7–8.
Our Junior Boarding Program is intentionally designed to give students the best of both worlds: the structure and safety of a nurturing home environment with the independence and growth opportunities of a world-class boarding school.
We understand that choosing to send your middle schooler to boarding school is a big decision. That’s why we’ve created a program that eases the transition with a small dorm community, 24/7 caring supervision from faculty members who live on campus, and a community that feels like family.
WHY Junior Boarding at Rabun Gap?

A Program that Grows With Them
Our Junior Boarding Program is an ideal introduction to residential life. It helps students gain confidence, build friendships, and prepare for the transition to Upper School boarding. By the time they reach 9th grade, they are more than ready to thrive in a college-preparatory environment.

Meet Aunt Connie,
The Heart of the Middle School Dorm
Lovingly known as Aunt Connie, Connie Walton is head of the Middle School Dorm. Known for her warm hugs, wise advice, and always having a listening ear, Aunt Connie makes the dorm feel like home.
She’s supported by a team of full-time residential faculty who live on campus and are deeply involved in every child's life — not just in the dorm, but also in the classroom, at activities, and on the sidelines at games.
From bedtime routines to birthday celebrations, Aunt Connie and our dorm team create a caring, consistent environment where students feel safe, supported, and truly part of the Rabun Gap family.
