Middle School

ENGAGE in Grades 6-8

At the Niles Bolton Middle School students truly ENGAGE — with their learning, their peers, and the world around them.

In grades 6-8, students are challenged and supported in a dynamic, hands-on environment that fosters deep connection and confidence during these pivotal years of growth.

Where belonging matters, connections deepen, and students thrive together.

Why Middle School at Rabun Gap?

Learning Comes to Life

Middle School students don’t just learn—they experience. With a dedicated STEAM building, outdoor classroom, and greenhouse, hands-on projects connect academic subjects to real-world problem solving, innovation, and creativity. Learning here is active, exciting, and tailored to spark curiosity in every student.

Roll up your sleeves: real learning starts here.

House Spirit, Lasting Bonds

House Days build a strong sense of belonging, encourage leadership, and help students forge meaningful connections, creating a tight-knit community where everyone feels seen, valued, and supported.

The House System (yes, just like in Harry Potter!) brings students together across grades for team challenges, spirit days, and friendly competitions.

Class Trips With Purpose

From exploring Cherokee history and sustainability to retracing the steps of the Civil Rights movement, our annual trips deepen understanding and build unforgettable memories. And it's all part of the Middle School experience!

Each grade level embarks on a signature class trip that directly ties to our curriculum.

Every Student Shines Bright

From our all-school musical to circus arts, dance, music, and visual arts classes, students explore a wide range of artistic disciplines. Every Middle Schooler is encouraged to discover their voice, build confidence, and develop creative talents.

Creativity is center stage in our arts program.

A Global Learning Community

With Spanish and Mandarin courses for all levels and international boarding students as part of our Middle School boarding community, our Middle School offers an enriching global experience. We celebrate many international festivals and events throughout the school year.

Students build language skills and cultural understanding, preparing them to thrive in the modern world.

Play Hard, Win Big

With 12+ competitive teams at the Middle School level and opportunities to train and play with JV and varsity programs, Middle School athletes thrive—whether chasing championships or trying a sport for the first time.

We’ve brought home Tri-State titles in every season this year!

A Distinct Campus for Middle School

Our 13-acre campus on Betty's Creek Road is a purpose-built environment just for grades 6-8. Students thrive in small classes surrounded by the natural beauty of the Northeast Georgia mountains. Highights of the Middle School campus include:

  • Outdoor Classroom housing STEAM classes and equipment
  • Greenhouse
  • Dining hall and beautiful patio space
  • Athletic and recreational facilities, including a gym and weight training building
  • Dance, art, and music studios

Engage Without Distractions
