The philosophy of the Visual Arts Department is based on the idea that good observational skills are crucial to all visual art disciplines.  Art at Rabun Gap, is specifically geared towards enhancing visual perception through a variety of materials and modes of expression.

Students are encouraged to broaden their experience or exposure to many different databases of images for use as influences for their artwork.  Students have the opportunity to specialize in the media of their choice in upper level courses, but all students are exposed to drawing, painting, ceramics, photography, and sculpture.
