EXPLORE in Grades K-5

At the Evelyne Sheats Lower School, children are encouraged to Explore — ideas, interests, friendships, and the world around them.

Everything about our program is designed to foster joyful discovery, belonging, and wonder. Students learn in a nurturing, intentionally child-focused environment where they feel known, supported, and inspired to be themselves.

Where curiosity grows, confidence takes root, and children discover the joy of learning.

Why Lower School at Rabun Gap?

Strong Foundations, Big Futures

At Rabun Gap, students build strong reading, writing, math, science, and humanities skills through joyful, hands-on instruction tailored to diverse learning styles. Small class sizes ensure every child receives personal attention and support.

Watch your child grow with confidence through engaging, research-based instruction in every subject.

Creativity Comes Alive
Our arts program inspires creativity and confidence through Encore classes, performances, and after-school opportunities for every Lower School student.

Spark your child’s creativity with hands-on classes in strings, visual arts, dance, and music, with exciting performance opportunities.
Endless Opportunities in Encore Classes

There's more to learning than what happens in the traditional classroom, and our program builds confidence through experience. In the Lower School, students try new things daily, like swimming, strings, musical theatre, and climbing through our robust Encore classes.

Your child will step outside the ordinary and discover new passions in every class.

Every Child Nurtured and Suppored
With a dedicated counselor, weekly chapel, and a focus on holistic growth, every child is known and cared for at Rabun Gap. We also offer access to Orton-Gillingham tutoring, speech therapy, and occupational therapy, and we provide personalized support to help each student thrive.

Your child will be surrounded by a caring team dedicated to their whole-person growth.

The Lower School is a place where curiosity is honored, childhood is celebrated, and every child is known and loved. Here, learning isn't just academic - it’s joyful, meaningful, and rooted in connection.Renee Rogers
