School Leadership
Welcome to Rabun Gap-Nacoochee School, a place where students lead the way in learning, leadership, and life.
Here, students from across the country and around the world grow into confident, capable individuals prepared for college, career, and a lifetime of leadership and service.
Since 1903, Rabun Gap has been shaping futures from our stunning 1,400-acre campus in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains of Northeast Georgia. Our founder, Andrew Jackson Ritchie, envisioned a school grounded in the values of Work, Study, and Worship — pillars that continue to shape our vibrant, mission-driven community today.
As one of the most geographically diverse boarding and day schools in the United States, Rabun Gap enrolls more than 680 students from over 50 countries and 15 states. Our global perspective is matched by a deep commitment to personalized education, where students thrive through academic challenge, meaningful relationships, and life-changing opportunities.
You’ll find innovation and excellence in every corner of our campus, from our nationally-recognized circus program and thriving arts offerings to championship athletics and a hands-on, applied learning curriculum. Whether excelling in athletics, performing in the arts, or exploring new cultures in the classroom, students are encouraged to dream big and explore boldly.
While this website offers a window into our world, nothing compares to experiencing Rabun Gap in person. When you visit, you’ll discover more than a school — you’ll feel the warmth of a community that truly knows, values, and supports each child. This is a place where students are seen, challenged, and inspired to lead lives of purpose.
We look forward to welcoming you to our mountain home.
Jeff Miles
Head of School

Meet Mr. Miles
In 2019, Mr. Jeff Miles was selected as Rabun Gap-Nacoochee School's eleventh Head of School.
During his tenure at Rabun Gap, Mr. Miles has led the school through a successful strategic plan that included completing the largest capital campaign in school history. He has also been instrumental in leading significant enrollment growth, allowing the school to reach its maximum capacity in student enrollment. The growth has helped promote the elite programs for academics, arts and athletics.
Prior to his arrival at Rabun Gap, Mr. Miles spent nearly two decades leading boarding schools. He started his career as a teacher, coach, and houseparent at Christ School in Asheville, NC, where he later served as Assistant Headmaster. He gained extensive experience in strategic planning, academics, athletics, student life, and the management of daily operations at a boarding school.
An independent school graduate himself, Mr. Miles was drawn to Rabun Gap’s commitment to providing opportunities to students from across the valley and around the world. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Mars Hill University and a Master of Arts in Educational Leadership from Michigan State University. Mr. Miles is also a graduate of the prestigious Peabody College Summer Institute for Independent School Leadership at Vanderbilt University.
In his role as an educator and administrator, Mr. Miles is dedicated to the development of well-rounded students who thrive in the classroom, on the athletic fields, and on the stage. He has built an extensive career in the sport of lacrosse, both as a player and coach. During his coaching career, Mr. Miles led his teams to three consecutive state championships in 2017, 2018, and 2019. He was selected as the North Carolina Coach of the Year in 2006 and 2017. In 2021, Mr. Miles helped bring the sport of lacrosse to Rabun Gap.
Mr. Miles is married to Kiana Miles, and they have two daughters, Lia ‘31, and Alison ‘34.
