As a boarding or day student at Rabun Gap, you will have endless opportunities to excel in the classroom, in athletic pursuits, and on the stage. 

We welcome day students from Northeast Georgia, Western North Carolina, and Upstate South Carolina, with convenient bus service to a variety of locations across the region. Our domestic boarding students come from states across the U.S. to live and learn at Rabun Gap. Our central location in the Southeast and unique mountain campus serves as the perfect setting for domestic boarding students. Students can see the sun peek out from behind the mountains and sparkling mist rolling down the valley as they walk to their classes. At Rabun Gap, everyday experiences are accompanied by breathtaking landscapes.

  • Can I apply as a domestic student?

    Citizenship
    The student or parent/legal guardian must be a citizen of the United States.

    Permanent Residence
    The parent/legal guardian must maintain a permanent residence in the United States (does not have to be the family's primary residence).

    US Income Taxes
    The parent/legal guardian must pay US income taxes

Domestic Students Application Process

  • STEP 1: Request information to learn more about our program.

    Once you submit an inquiry, we will send you more information about our school and invite you to upcoming admission events.
  • STEP 2: Complete the application form online.

    The application must be completed by both the applicant and parent(s) or guardian. Applicants should give thoughtful consideration to all questions and respond in their own words.

    We encourage all applicants to apply online to reduce paper usage and help us process the application more quickly. Click the Apply link to create a username and password, then complete the application form. The non-refundable online application fee is $50.

    If you prefer to complete a paper application,we will gladly send you a hard copy. The printed application processing fee is $85. Parents, if you are completing the paper application, please carefully complete all sections of the Parent Questionnaire, then return it with the application and application fee to the Admission Office.
  • STEP 3: Submit transcripts.

    For applicants who are enrolled in a school, parent(s) or guardian must sign a Release of Records form requesting an official copy of your child's school record. Please give the Release of Records to the appropriate official at your child's current school with instructions to mail the school record to the Admission Office. The school record must include past grade reports, recent grade reports, attendance and discipline records, and any standardized aptitude and achievement test scores. You may get this form here or from the admission office: admission@rabungap.org or 706-746-7720.
  • STEP 4: Submit recommendations.

    Once you begin the application process, you can use our online forms to submit at least three recommendations. You will need the recommender's email address to request that they complete the forms electronically. Recommendations are required from:
    • Math Teacher
    • English Teacher
    • Principal or Counselor
    You may also submit recommendations from other teachers, coaches, or a pastor.
  • STEP 5: Testing

    We offer the ISEE on our campus. For ISEE testing information and on-campus test dates, please see our calendar of events on the website.

    All applicants should submit scores from the Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE) or the SSAT. If these tests are not available in your area, please contact the Admission Office.


    Please have the score report sent directly to Rabun Gap using the following codes: ISEE 112460; SSAT 5974; TOEFL 8534.
  • STEP 6: Campus Tour & Interview

    A personal interview with the applicant and parent is required. We prefer to arrange a personal interview and tour after a student's application is on file. Please call the Admission Office at 706-746-7724 to schedule an appointment for an interview and tour.
