Weston Willard named Head of Middle School

Rabun Gap-Nacoochee School is pleased to introduce Mr. Weston Willard as Head of Middle School. Mr. Willard, who has served as Rabun Gap’s Director of International Programs, was named to the leadership role after an extensive national search this spring. He will begin leading the Niles Bolton Middle School starting July 1. 

 

“I am very excited to welcome Mr. Willard to his new role as Head of Middle School.  He brings a wealth of experience in education, and truly understands the needs of middle school students, families, and the Rabun Gap community,” said Head of School Jeff Miles. 

 

Mr. Willard brings 20 years of experience in education to his new role.   A seasoned educator and administrator, Mr. Willard has spent the majority of his career at schools in Hawaii. He spent a decade there teaching middle school students in a variety of subjects including social studies, history, English, technology, special education, and Hawaiian culture. Before moving to Rabun Gap last fall to work in the Upper School, he led the social studies department at Kamehameha Schools, a private school for native Hawaiians, for six years. Mr. Willard also has a strong background in middle school administration. He was the Head of Middle School at Ke Ana La'ahana Charter School in Keaukaha, HI from 2007-2010. He has held leadership roles in summer school programs, school technology departments, and charter school consulting. 

 

Mr. Willard earned his MEd in School Leadership from the Harvard University Graduate School of Education in 2004. He also has a post-baccalaureate teaching degree from the University of Hawaii at Manoa and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in business from Wake Forest University.

Mr. Willard lives on campus with his wife Anna and their daughter Kailani.
