RG 0 - Cavaliers 2

The Ladies traveled to the heart of Tiger Town as they faced the Anderson Cavaliers this evening in Anderson, SC. Hannah Jane Mellon got the eagles off to a smoking hot start as she served 10 straight service points to get the eagles off to a huge lead. Up 13-4, the eagles looked heavily in command, but the Cavaliers clawed their way back late on poor passing and defense by the Eagles. Milli Watts was excellent on defense up front as she attacked several balls that put the control on the eagles side of the net in the second half of the set. With the score tied 25-25, the Eagles couldn't control the final two serves by the Cavaliers and dropped set one, 27-25. Set two was much of the same, as back and forth points kept the Eagles close to the bitter end. Newcomers Katie Barta and LE Martin both had incredible nights serving the ball and were quicker to react to tough attacks. With the score 24-22, the Eagles couldn't capitalize on their final serves, and fell 25-22 in set two. Other key players of excellence tonight included Carson Hill, 6th grade, who served 9 for 9, leading the eagles to a 15-2 win in the 5th quarter match up. She also served in another point when the eagles needed it most in set one making her 10 for 11 serving on the evening. Coach BySura had this to say after the game, "They fought hard tonight and the practices we had over the last week are evidence of their improvement. We need to regroup and work on serve-receive passing next week before a divisional match next Friday. Excited to see where they go from here."

The Eagles play three games next week. On the Road Monday and Friday, and then home Saturday Morning at 10:00-12:00 PM.
