Rising senior Jazmyn Pickstock is getting a jump start on college courses this summer.

Jazmyn is participating in Spelman College’s Early College Program and is taking a Biology 100 class in “The Biology of Women.”

“The most fascinating thing that I learned was how the female body truly works. We went in depth into the bodily functions and hormonal regulation,” Jazmyn said.

She added that, as an aspiring physician, the Early College Program’s biology course was a natural choice, and she valued being able to take a college-level class to see what it was like. Students in the Spelman program are able to truly immerse in college life, and live on campus in Atlanta during the summer. The group also gives back to the community by serving at the Atlanta Food Bank every week.

Spelman College is ranked as the No. 1 HBCU by U.S. News & World Report. Jazmyn said it is one of her choices for college after she graduates in 2019, and she wanted to explore Spelman through the Early College Program.
