"Cabaret" brings home 3 Shuler Award nominations

Rabun Gap also receives three honorable mentions in annual Georgia High School Musical Theatre Awards
Rabun Gap earned three nominations and three honorable mentions in the Georgia High School Musical Theatre Awards, also known as the Shuler Awards, for the November 2017 production of “Cabaret.”

The technical theatre students took the spotlight in Rabun Gap’s nominations. The nominations included Sam Poole ‘19 and Izzy Ettwein ‘20 for Sound Design; Jack Zhou ‘18 and Kacper Kuzimski ’19 for Set Design; and Zach Nash ‘18 and Leah Grace Craig ‘19 for Technical Execution.

Ms. Allegra Boggess and the Rabun Gap Orchestra earned an honorable mention for Orchestra. Also earning honorable mentions were Alex Kehoe ‘19, best performance by a supporting actor, for his portrayal of Herr Schultz, and Madi Albury ‘19, best performance by a supporting actor, for her portrayal of Fräulein Schneider.

Nominations were announced live Wednesday, March 28 on GPB, and overall winners will be awarded during the Shuler Awards Ceremony on April 19 at the Cobb Energy Center.

Katie Cox ‘19 and Cydni Coppage ‘20 will perform in the opening and closing numbers of the awards ceremony alongside representatives from 76 other Georgia high schools.
