Eagles defeat Nantahala 2-0

Eagles bring down conference rival Nantahala 2-0.
Rabun Gap went into their second conference game against Nantahala on Wednesday night. Leading the way for the Eagles was Catherine Rauers with 12 service points in set 1, leading to a large Eagles victory 25-12. In the second set, it looked as though Coach BySura was operating a new lineup, and the girls did their best to utilize their Libero addition of Bella Zavala. The Eagles kept things close even though they were unaccustomed to this new system. 6th grader Milli Watts came in as setter, and veteran Claren Spivey worked the middle for the Eagles for the first time. Although a new system to them, they did fantastic and team leader Reese Ward finished Nantahala off with some stellar serving aces and point runs winning 25-20.

Coach BySura had this to say after the game, "They did better tonight showing some passion on the floor, and every game at this point is a building block to what we need to do next week against Highlands. I firmly believe we can beat them in the championship, but they need to believe it too."

Eagles now 2-6
