It was another battle for the much-improved Lady Eagles middle school volleyball team at home Thursday as they fell to Highlands School in two sets 25-22, 25-18. They came out swinging in the first set with back and forth points keeping the game close till the bitter end. Sarah Hicks had an impressive night tallying 4 total kills on the evening. Reese Ward led the Eagles in serving points and Ava Chordegian kept the ball alive as her passing continued to be an asset to the Eagles back line. The ladies battled with Highlands for every point, but luck did not favor the Eagles in this one, as they lost a close divisional match up. The team record is 1-6.
Coach BySura had this to say after the game, "Statistically, we played better than any game to-date. We have averaged only 2-3 kill attempts per set in our last 5 games; we averaged 9 per set tonight. We had a total of 18 total kill attempts in this game tonight from 5 different hitters, which tells me that these girls are beginning to master ball control, improved setting, and improved passing. I still firmly believe that when they can put all their weapons together and clean up their game just a little more, these close sets will start turning into victories. We have another week of work before our championship match ups, and the ladies are improving every day. I couldn't be more impressed with their dedication and love of the sport."
The Eagles “Developmental” team will play Anderson Cavaliers at home Monday and the “Game” team hosts Nantahala Wednesday.
