Eagles lose at home against Warriers 1-3

Rabun Gap played host to the West Oak Warriors in another best of 5 match. Leading the way for the Eagles in set one was Claren Spivey who tallied up several serve points in the first set for the ladies and also had an overall great outing with improved ball control, leadership, and awareness of her teammates. The ladies fought back after a tough first server, but failed to show ball control in set one as they fell 15-25.

The ladies played much better defense in set two, moving to their spots and handling the ball better.  Newcomers Emma Duquette and Vivi Garen are beginning to step in as reliable servers and placed balls over the net that the Warriors had trouble with. Emma was responsible for an 8 points run in set 3 and Vivi had a 3 point run in set two. The ladies would lose a close one in set two 20-25, after being up 15-7 in the set. They let a final power server for West Oak get the better of them and lost a heart breaker towards the end of the set.

However, Emma's serving run in set 3 powered the Eagles to victory as they moved on defense well, and set up attacks by Reese Ward, Claren Spivey, Ava Chordegian and Lucy Barry, all who tallied kills in set 3. They would cruise to victory forcing a forth set 25-22. Isaballa Crump helped finish off the Warriors in set 3 with two solid serving attempts.

Moving into set four, one Warrier server proved to be a foe for the Eagles as she drive home 11 straight points. The Eagles attempted to mount another comeback on the serving of Reese Ward, but victory simply wasn't in the cards for the Eagles as they faltered in set four losing 21-25.

Coach BySura had this to say after the game, "Improvement, improvement, improvement. My girls looked really good tonight and I was proud of their effort and enthusiasm. They kept their heads up, worked better as a team, and communication is getting better. Even though this was a loss, this is the kind of momentum we need moving into Thursday's rematch versus Highlands. Great game tonight."

Eagles now 1-5 and will host Highlands at 4:30 PM Thursday.
