Eagles fall in the quarters.

In a game that was much closer than the final score indicates, Rabun Gap ended their season with an 8-0 loss to the Providence Day Mustangs in the state tournament quarterfinals on Saturday.  Entering the sixth inning, Carter King had only given up 2 hits and the Eagles trailed 1-0 when a disputed call changed the course of the game.  The Mustang’s leadoff batter was called out on a close play at first base, but after the call was reversed things unraveled quickly for the Eagles.  In the inning, the Mustangs put together several hits aided by two Rabun Gap throwing errors to push across 7 unearned runs.  At the plate, the Eagles only managed 3 hits on the day.  Despite the lack of hits, the Eagles got the tying or go ahead run to second base three times in the early innings, but could not get the clutch hit to drive in the runs.  Enrique Morales lead Rabun Gap with 2 solid singles in the game.  With the loss, the Eagles ended the season with a 21-8 record, tying the school record for victories in a season.
