Greener, Ostojic inducted to Athletic Hall of Fame

It's always exciting to induct new members of Rabun Gap's Athletic Hall of Fame, but this year the excitement was doubled.  On October 14, the HOF welcomed two new alumni, who both have had two roles: Rabun Gap athlete and Rabun Gap coach.

Jesse Greener graduated from Rabun Gap in 2008.  She lettered in both basketball and soccer and helped varsity girls basketball win their first CAA championship.  Jesse was All-CAA in soccer both years at Rabun Gap. She was our first female All-NCISAA recipient for girls soccer in 2007.  After graduating from Rabun Gap, she attended the University of Alabama, where she played on the women’s club soccer team.  Jesse earned a second degree from Kennesaw State and a Masters from the University of Georgia.  She has since returned to Rabun Gap as an Upper School Humanities teacher, Coordinator of Female Athletics and Girls Varsity Soccer Head Coach.  In only her second season coaching, her team finished 15-2-1 and earned a top 8 seed in the NCISAA 4A State Tournament.

Daniel Ostojic ‘99 was part of a second group of Bosnian students to attend Rabun Gap.  He was a top performer in both soccer and basketball.  During his junior year, both of those teams made it to the GHSA state tournament.  The basketball team won a thrilling home playoff game against Buford that year. Soccer made the state quarterfinals twice during his time at Rabun Gap, posting a 17-1 record one year.  Daniel scored the winning goal in the league semi-final.  After playing both sports at Piedmont University, Daniel returned to Rabun Gap to teach, coach and serve as an assistant athletic director.  He was even one of Jesse Greener’s coaches when she played at Rabun Gap.  As Varsity Boys Soccer Coach, Daniel helped Rabun Gap quickly make a name for itself in the NCISAA.  He helped set the stage for our boys soccer to be where it is today: two-time reigning state champions.  Daniel now owns New Vision Training Center in Franklin, NC.
