Mr. Jordan Wright, 5th year math teacher at Rabun Gap, spent part of his summer attending the Klingenstein Summer Institute for Early Career Teachers. The program, based out of the Columbia University's Teachers College, ran from June 18-July 1. The program took place on the campus of Lawrenceville School, a boarding school in Lawrenceville, New Jersey.

A goal of the program is to help early career independent school teachers improve their teaching practice.  Diversity in independent schools and professional development within a school are two other focal points of the program. More generally, KSI aims to convince these teachers to stay in independent schools as a profession. Only 75 teachers from across the globe are accepted to the prestigious program.

"For me, KSI was a remarkable experience. I am grateful to have had this opportunity,” Mr. Wright said. “I left the experience having been affirmed over my own work in independent schools. To describe KSI, I would say that my cup ran over!  It would take a long time to process what I have been exposed to at KSI. I am hopeful that this experience can be beneficial to me and others moving forward into this year and beyond."
