Eagles take first in girls, boys, and overall against Asheville Christian Academy
On Tuesday, December 13th, Rabun Gap hosted Asheville Christian Academy at home. Rabun Gap beat ACA 100-86 with the Girls winning 51-42 and the Boys winning 49-44.
To kick off the meet, the 200 Medley relay team of Sophomores Donovan Gardner, Lasse Brueggemann, Kacper Kuzimski, and Liam Spoon won by over 4 seconds. Next up, Rabun Gap placed 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in the Girls 50 Freestyle. Gavron Campbell '18 finished first, followed by Shania Gonzalez '19 (2nd) and Amanda Frederick '17 (3rd). In the boys 50 Freestyle, Liam Spoon '19 grabbed first place and Lasse Brueggemann '19 placed third. Ariana Duverge '18 swam well, winning the girls 100 Freestyle and 100 Backstroke. Jana Jacimaic had a great meet. In her first individual event, Jacimaic swam the 200 IM with a state qualifying time and later went on to win the girls 100 Breaststroke. Lasse Brueggemann won the boys 100 Breaststroke and achieved his first state qualifying time. Both the girls 200 Free relay team of Jana Jacimovic '17, Shania Gonzalez '19, Mia Gray '19, and Gavron Campbell '18 and the boys 200 Free relay team of Lasse Brueggemann '19, Sam Poole '19, Patrick Woods '20, and Justin Gilleland '20 beat ACA.
After four meets, Rabun Gap has 7 State Qualifiers (19 total State times): Ariana Duverge '18 (50 Free, 100 Free, 100 Back, 200 IM) Jana Jacimovic '17 (100 Free, 200 Free, 100 Breast, 200 IM) Anna Armfield '17 (200 Free, 500 Free, 100 Fly) Gavron Campbell '18 (100 Breast) Liam Spoon '19 (100 Free, 100 Back) Kacper Kuzimski '19 (200 Free, 100 Fly, 200 IM) Donovan Gardner '19 (100 Back), and Lasse Brueggemann '18 (100 Breast).
