The Middle School Lady Eagles fell to Trimont in a two game set played at Trimont.
The Middle School Lady Eagles traveled to Trimont Christian Academy in their second of three games on the road. They haven't game beat the tall middles of Trimont this year, and were hoping to change that tonight. They didn't help themselves early in the first set as 7 straight points bounced off their passing arms from a seemingly easy Trimont service attack. Down early (9-1) in the first set, they began to creep back. First, they achieved one of their three big goals. They began to shut down the dinks and tips of the Trimont middles with solid passing from their middle backs, particularly Claren Spivey, who was poised and ready for a great game. Second, their serves were falling like rain, Julia Sadlon, Sadie Martin, and Alleson Queen, all led the charge serving in the first set. Third, they managed a stunning attack on offense totalling 9 kills (3 from Spivey, 3 from Queen, 2 from Hicks, and 1 from Martin). After falling behind so early, they clawed their way back and found themselves up 20-19 late in the set. However, a missed serve opportunity when tied 20-20 opened the door for Trimont, and Trimont took advantage, taking the set one battle, winning 23-25.
Moving into set two, the Ladies seemed to lose some fire. Again, the simple serve of Trimont caught them off gaurd. They couldn't manage the serve and quickly went down 9-0 in the second set. Timing, movement, and focus were constantly an issue and the quick reactions to the ball that they did so well in set one were limited. Missed serves ran rampant as they fell apart in set two both mentally and physically. Trimont took an easy road to victory in set 2 winning 14-25.
Coach BySura had this to say after the game, "Are we improving, no doubt about it! The first set shows me that these ladies can play this game and play it well! The lesson I hope they learned tonight is that they now have to carry that momentum, that energy, and that motivation further if they want to close out sets to achieve a win. They cannot lose focus even after a tough loss in a set. I have every confidence that the lessons they are learning now will carry us to a division championship in two weeks."
The Ladies are 1-4 for the season and hit the road again tomorrow to take on West Oak at 5:00 PM. are on the road again tomorrow Versus WEST OAK: GAMETIME 5:00 PM.
