Upper School In the Know

The 2026 MLK Day Celebration, taking place on January 19, will center on the theme “The Power of Story.” From 9:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., students will participate in small-group discussions grounded in the lived experiences of members of the RGNS community and our surrounding community. Through these conversations, students will practice the empathy that Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. exemplified in his leadership for civil and human rights. The day will culminate with our annual MLK Day Celebration Concert, featuring gospel recording artists Virtue.

Do you love Physics? Consider registering for the F=ma exam. The F=ma exam is the initial, highly selective, multiple-choice test for the U.S. Physics Olympiad program, run by the American Association of Physics Teachers (AAPT) for high school students to qualify for the national team, focusing on non calculus-based mechanics problems. F=ma serves as the gateway to the calculus-based semifinal exam (USAPhO).

The F=ma exam is open to any student attending school in the US. However, only US citizens can qualify for the national team. If you are interested in registering, please email Mrs. Hibler (taneahibler@rabungap.org) by Monday at 3 pm.

As we begin the new year, I want to pause and express my gratitude for this remarkable Upper School community. I am deeply thankful for our students who show up each day curious, committed, and willing to grow, and for the families and faculty who support them with care and purpose.

Gratitude brings clarity. It reminds us of what matters most and strengthens our sense of belonging. I am especially grateful for the opportunity to learn and grow alongside such dedicated learners every day. That shared growth is one of the greatest benefits of being part of this community.

I look forward to all that 2026 will bring as we continue learning, reflecting, and moving forward together.

Warmly,
Ms. McGroarty
