Kindergarteners design Community Projects

Our youngest students worked in the STEAM lab to create original buildings
Each year, kindergarten students learn about all the roles in a community. Students culminated this exciting unit with an applied learning project that was showcased at the Applied Learning Summit on April 29.

Every kindergartner chose a community building to create for their project and dressed up as a community member. They also wrote about their community member. Students drew up blueprints and worked in the STEAM building to bring their ideas to life. Throughout the unit, members of the community visited our kindergarten classrooms and the students also went on trips to Piggly Wiggly, Woods Mercantile, and other local businesses learn more about the community.

Special thanks to Piggly Wiggly, Woods, Chick-fil-A, Rabun EMS, Walmart, Clipper, Rabun County Animal Hospital, and Lindsey Brooks from Salon B13 for helping with this project.
