Annual Watershed Festival celebrates our environment
Seventh-graders presented year-long Watershed projects focused on research and conservation.
The annual Middle School Watershed Festival was a celebration of applied learning and brought students of all divisions together to interact with our watershed on May 5.
The Watershed Festival is the capstone event for seventh graders, and their project topics ranged from bats and salamanders to aquaponics and water quality. Each studen researched their topic and created a project that had community impact. These projects were showcased in the Alexander Chudacoff Outdoor Classroom.
The eighth-graders ended the day with their annual "Plashion" show, creating fashions from recyclable materials and teaching the audience about the importance of recycling.
There were lots of activities for all students to engage in during the festival. Lower School students explored the watershed and creek, learning about animals and plants. In the Upper School, science classes had the opportunity to participate with the Orianne Society in fish shocking and research activities in Betty's Creek.
