Rabun Gap celebrates Lunar New Year 2022

Rabun Gap-Nacoochee School celebrated the Year of the Tiger in Lunar New Year celebrations during the month of February.

Lower and Middle School students enjoyed fun activities led by our international students. Each division was treated to dragon and lion dances. Students also made Lunar New Year crafts, competed in chopstick races, and learned about the traditions of the holiday from our Upper School students.

The Mandarin Club and Mandarin classes at the Upper School also celebrated the holiday by sharing red envelopes with students and faculty and cooking dumplings and fried rice.

Boarding students had the chance to enjoy a meal at a local restaurant as a weekend activity to celebrate Lunar New Year. See more photos from Rabun Gap's Lunar New Year celebrations here.

Lunar New Year is one of the most important celebrations of the year among East and Southeast Asian cultures. Learn more about Lunar New Year here.
