Meet Aidan Semo '22! Aidan is a boarding student from Cornwall, NY.  He is an excellent student and one of our football captains.

Why did you choose to attend Rabun Gap?
I chose to attend Rabun Gap because I wanted to be pushed both in the classroom and on the field. I knew there would be a great combination of academics and athletics that would help prepare me to be successful not only in high school but for the rest of my life as well.

What makes Rabun Gap special to you?
Rabun Gap is special to me because of all of the amazing things that come with being an international boarding school. I get to live year round with all of my best friends and even though we come from completely different parts of the world we are all brothers and sisters now.

What is your favorite memory from Rabun Gap?
So far my favorite memory at Rabun Gap was last spring break when me and 10 teammates packed into a tiny school bus with two of our coaches and spent a week together driving around visiting colleges across the whole country that were recruiting us to play football.

What do you like most about your extracurriculars?
Extracurricular activities are very beneficial because it helps to give you a good balance with school. Having a balance in life is one of the most important things to keep because then you won't get too overwhelmed or stressed out by something that you are putting all of your energy into.

What has been your favorite moment or memory of playing football at Rabun Gap?
My favorite memory of playing football at Rabun Gap will come at the end of this season.

What is it like being a student-athlete at Rabun Gap?
Being a student athlete at Rabun Gap is an amazing experience. You get to experience the best of both worlds on the field and in the classroom. You will compete alongside athletes and students that will make you better, and also be taught and coached by great teachers and coaches.

Which Rabun Gap teachers and/or coaches have had the biggest impact on you during your time here?
Coach Sturdivant and Coach/Dr. Miller have had the biggest impact on my life during my time at Rabun Gap. They are great teachers, coaches and most importantly people. They have made me a better athlete, student and person and I have also created relationships with them that will last a lifetime.

What advice would you give another student who is interested in boarding and attending Rabun Gap?
The advice I would give someone who is interested in attending Rabun Gap is that you will not find a better place in the country to go to. You will meet people from every part of the world, receive a great education, compete at a very high level in high school sports and live in the beautiful North Georgia mountains.

Which interests do you pursue outside of the classroom?
Outside of the classroom the interests I pursue most are sports. In my case, football has taught me some very important life lessons that I will remember for life. It is a warriors game and each Friday I get to go into battle with my brothers that are originally from many different places, but on the field we all bleed green.
