Max Viera '20 Shines in Freshman Season at Northeastern

Max Viera ‘20 has had an impressive freshman year competing at the Division 1 level for the Northeastern University Huskies Baseball team.  Max was named to the CAA All-First Team and Rookie Team and has started in 33 games.  

During the regular season, he produced a .341 batting average with a total of 45 hits, 5 doubles, 2 triples, 5 home runs, and 25 runs batted in.  He had an excellent year in the field as well with only committing one error out of 48 chances. He finished the year with an impressive 979 fielding percentage out of 1,000.

Viera had impressive conference statistics as well with a .316 batting average.  He had 20 hits with 8 doubles, 3 home runs, and 18 runs batted in.

Last Sunday, the Huskies competed in the Conference Championship game.  At the bottom of the 10th, Viera went to bat and hit a walk-off solo home run to end the game and clinch the victory.

“As always, Max Viera performs when the stage is big and the lights are at their brightest,” said Head Coach Clark Wright.

The home run secured Northeastern’s first-ever CAA Conference Championship.  They take the field in the NCAA Tournament against the University of Nebraska tonight at 7.
