Varsity Baseball wins 2021 conference championship

For the first time since 2015, Varsity Baseball has won the Conference Championship.  The team competed in front of a home crowd and defeated Asheville School 14-0 to win the championship title. Chris Hayes ‘22 hit a home run and Alex Cordero ‘22 pitched a shutout in the victory.

The team didn’t stop there, as it went undefeated in their games leading up to the playoffs and earned a bye in the first round.  They  took the field against Providence Day School and won 11-2, advancing them to the quarterfinals.  It was an explosive quarterfinal game as Alex Cordero ‘22, Jameson Madden ‘22, and Sabien Rivera ‘22 hit back-to-back-to-back home runs to lift the Eagles over Charlotte Country Day, 6-1.  The quarterfinal victory pushed Varsity Baseball to their first Final Four appearance since 2014.  Sadly, the team’s season came to an end when they faced Wesleyan in the Semifinals.

Overall, it was an excellent season for baseball as they finished with a record of 17-6-0.
