College Profile: Fisayo Ekeng, NYU

Fisayo will continue her career in theatre at New York University.
Congratulations to Fisayo Ekeng for her early acceptance to New York University!

Fisayo, a boarding student from Nigeria, will head to NYU after graduation to major in acting at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts. She has been a familiar face in the Rearden Theater at Rabun Gap, starring in musicals and Cirque performances, singing with The Gap 8, and dancing with The Studio. Outside of the arts, Fisayo co-founded Rabun Gap’s Diversity United and is co-president of the group, serves this year’s Head Prefect, and leads on the Senior Planning Committee and Honor Council.

NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts is one the nation’s premier performing arts schools with a focus on training multi-hyphenate creatives - making it Fisayo’s first choice for college. She’s also excited about the school’s studio system, which will allow her to learn and train with a tight-knit group of like-minded actors, while developing a method suited to her as an individual performer. Fisayo can’t wait to be a part of the New York theatre scene.

“I would like to become an actress, producer and screenwriter that strives to make the field more equitable and inclusive. With the #ENDSARS and Black Lives Matter protests in Nigeria and the United States respectively, the ability to ask critical questions, uncover answers and use them to tell relevant stories that engage with our communities are required urgently. The theatre continues to be indispensable at this significant time in history, and I want to be a part of that.”
