College Profile: Bilan Aden, Dartmouth

Bilan will use her experience at Dartmouth to make an impact in Somaliland.
Bilan, a boarding student from Somaliland,  will continue her academic career at Dartmouth College this fall.

Dartmouth is an Ivy League institution and is the ninth-oldest institution of higher education in the United States. An aspiring engineer, Bilan will be poised to make an impact on her home country after graduating from Dartmouth. She wants to contribute to the economy of Somaliland by not only creating jobs through construction, but also by designing attractive tourist destinations that will be pivotal in her country's tourism sector.

Bilan is a strong AP student and inspiring leader at Rabun Gap. She serves as senior class president, a prefect, and leader of the Psych Club on campus. Bilan also contributes to our STEAM and Outdoor programs.

“As an international student, it’s a priority for me to choose a college that fosters growth and challenges me to become a force for change in the world and one that has programs that celebrate equity and inclusion; Dartmouth is that school. I knew that I would become the best version of myself through that community that celebrates who I am but also challenges me in the best possible ways.”
