"Bodie" Bodenheimer, Jr. named to Athletic Hall of Fame

Brigadier General Furman P. "Bodie" Bodenheimer, Jr. will be inducted into the 2020 Rabun Gap Athletic Hall of Fame.
Our second inductee into the 2020 Rabun Gap Athletic Hall of Fame is Brigadier General Furman P. "Bodie" Bodenheimer, Jr. 

Bodie was a member of the Rabun Gap Board of Trustees and was instrumental in the addition of football at Rabun Gap. His financial support allowed the school to start the football program in 2009. 

After serving in the US Navy, Bodie attended Appalachian State University and played football for the Mountaineers from 1949 -1952.  Upon graduation, he began a career teaching and coaching football at Charlotte Technical High School and formed relationships that he kept for the rest of his life. 

Bodie moved into the business world of banking and eventually acquired Zickgraf Enterprises, Inc. in Franklin, North Carolina.  Two of his grandchildren attended Rabun Gap - Jim '13 and Anna '17.
