Daniel White to judge visual category for MADFest 2020

Special guest judge Daniel White will be judging the visual category in MADFest 2020.

With MADFest 2020's unusual livestream format this year, the arts department at Rabun Gap has been able to recruit an impressive line up of guest judges, including Daniel White!

Daniel White is currently the Director of the Paul R. Jones Museum of American Art and The University Gallery at The University of Alabama.  He has a Masters of Fine Arts from the School for American Crafts at RIT, and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Montevallo. His notable recent solo exhibitions at these spaces include Purvis Young, Beverly Buchanan, Jerry Siegel, and Al Sella.

White was the museum director of The Mason-Scharfenstein Museum of Art at Piedmont College from 2012-16. Since beginning his career at the Birmingham Museum of Art 15 years ago, he estimates he now has been involved in over 150 exhibitions in his career spanning from Antiquity to Postmodern. He is an active studio artist and contributes occasionally to scholarly publications.

MADFest is a celebration of the performing and visual arts at Rabun Gap.  It is an opportunity for students to create, perform and display their talents.  This year the arts department is putting together a very different form of MADFest with the students submitting videos of their work.

The deadline for submissions is this Friday, April 24.  These videos will be compiled and livestreamed on May 8 at 3PM EST.
