Summer Boggess to judge the instrumental category for MADFest 2020

The arts department has announced Summer Boggess as the special guest judge for the instrumental category in MADFEST 2020.
With MADFest 2020's unusual livestream format this year, the arts department at Rabun Gap has been able to recruit an impressive line up of guest judges, including Summer Boggess! 

Originally from Denver, Colorado, Summer Boggess currently plays cello for
Mean Girls on Broadway. Summer received her Masters degree from the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music and her undergraduate degree from the University of Colorado at Boulder.  Summer completed her Suzuki Teacher Training at the School for Strings in Manhattan and has been on the faculty of the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music and the Birch Wathen Lenox School in Manhattan.  She also volunteers with Artists Striving To End Poverty (ASTEP) and has taught at the Shanti Bhavan school in India. 
 
Her previous Broadway shows include the revival of Hello Dolly starring Bette Midler, Kristin Chenoweth's My Love Letter to Broadway, the Broadway revival of Les Miserables, Big Fish, The Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess,Scandalous, and Bye, Bye, Birdie.  
 
Summer has also appeared off- Broadway in The Last 5 Years and The Blue Flower at Second Stage and performed at Carnegie Hall for Kristin Chenoweth.  Other New York City engagements have included City Center Encores, the American Ballet Theatre at the Metropolitan Opera, Madison Square Garden, Lincoln Center’s “American Songbook” series, “The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon”, “The Today Show”, and “The Late Show with David Letterman.”

MADFest is a celebration of the performing and visual arts at Rabun Gap.  It is an opportunity for students to create, perform and display their talents.  This year the arts department is putting together a very different form of MADFest with the students submitting videos of their work.  

The deadline for submissions is this Friday, April 24.  These videos will be compiled and livestreamed on May 8 at 3PM EST.
