Senior Quill Martin named All-American wrestler

Eagles wrestler Quill Martin '20 took the title of Rabun Gap's first All-American at the Prep National Championship in Pennsylvania on February 22.
Congratulations to Quill Martin ‘20 on becoming Rabun Gap’s first All-American in school history on Saturday, February 22.

Martin wrestled his way to a seventh-place finish in the 170-pound weight class at the Prep National Championship at Lehigh University in Pennsylvania. Top eight finishers per 32-man bracket earn the prestigious status in only a few available tournaments throughout the year.

The Prep National Championship featured the best independent school talent in the nation and four out of the top 10 teams in the country for both public and private schools. Rabun Gap’s Eagles finished 42nd out of 102 schools with help from national qualifiers Cole Owens ‘20, Aidan Loring ‘20, Miles Watts ‘23, and Martin. Rabun Gap’s wrestlers bested the NCISAA State Champion Charlotte Latin, who placed 48th.

Martin will graduate with two other records that include the most career wins and the most wins in a season.
