Found My Valentine at Rabun Gap: Megan (Thomas) Reynolds ‘85 and Derrick Reynolds ‘83

Megan and Derrick Reynolds met as students at Rabun Gap in the 80s, but were only friends! It wasn't until 2016 that they reconnected and fell in love.
Megan (Thomas) Reynolds ‘85 and Derrick Reynolds ‘83 met as boarding students during their time at Rabun Gap but were only friends.

After becoming a widow, Megan found herself and her children embraced in the arms of her “Gapper family,” both in real-life and through Facebook connections. Through these friendships, Megan and Derrick reconnected in 2016 after an alumni reunion in Atlanta. They began communicating through social media and eventually went on their first date in September of 2016. Megan and Derrick were married at their home in May 2017, with more than 75 guests present to witness the family vows, a majority of whom were Rabun Gap alumni.

Due to their mutual love of Rabun Gap and the surrounding area, the couple decided that they wanted Megan’s children to have the same education opportunities and friendship experiences that they had at Rabun Gap. Taking a leap of faith, they enrolled Tim (‘23) and Annie (‘26) at Rabun Gap and moved back to Rabun County.
