Max Viera '20 signs with Northeastern

Max Viera '20 signed a Division 1 baseball scholarship with Northeastern University on November 13.
Rabun Gap senior Max Viera ‘20 will head to Northeastern University next fall after signing a Division 1 baseball scholarship.

Viera was joined by family, friends, and teammates during a signing ceremony on November 13. This is Viera’s first year at Rabun Gap as a boarding student from Greenwood Lake, NY. He is a middle infielder and has already been working hard with the Eagles baseball team in preparation for the 2020 season.

“Max Vierra is a young man that will thrive on and off the field.  He is an explosive, five-tool baseball player that is the epitome of hard work from the classroom to the baseball cage, weight room, and to the field.  He is a player that I never have to worry about whether he is getting his work in,” said Clark Wright, head Eagles baseball coach. “Due to his mental drive, no matter where his future caries him he will be a very productive member of society.  Max will make his Northeastern teammates push themselves to be elite-level student-athletes.”

Northeastern University is a private research university in Boston, MA. The Northeastern Huskies are part of the NCAA Division 1 Colonial Athletic Association. Athletic Director Dalen Earnhardt said Northeastern’s acceptance rate is less than 30 percent, commending Viera on getting into such a selective institution.
