Selah Price is a boarding student from Asheville, NC and is in her junior year here at Rabun Gap. In her second year at the School, Selah has become very involved in many different aspects of life here ranging from athletics to the arts and serves on several committees and clubs. She is a member of the varsity golf team, participates in Cirque and the Breakdance club, and is on the Global Awareness Committee and the Faith Committee Board. She is a core member of the Inclusion Initiative and is a Philosophy Club member. She chose to come to Rabun Gap because she was impressed with the academics and wanted a better education.
What is the best part about being a student at Rabun Gap?
The best part of being a student at Rabun Gap is getting to live with my best friends and learn about all the different cultures represented here.
What is it like to be a boarding student? What would you say to prospective students who might be thinking about attending Rabun Gap?
It’s definitely challenging at first because I was an only child growing up and having to live with other people was something I had to get used too. Getting to live with a bunch of girls is like a sisterhood and has taught me to understand myself more by having chores at 10 pm and the rigorous schedule. Being a boarder I also learned how to manage my time and actually think by myself, I’ve learned how to be on time with my mom and how to make time for myself. If you are looking to live with girls that want to be successful and want to learn in a place that will feel like home, then Rabun Gap is definitely for you.
What makes Rabun Gap special to you?
The amount of diversity in such a rural place amazes me every day.
What are your plans after you graduate? What are your plans for college?
I hope to either attend Wake Forest or the University of Alabama. I want to study political science and international affairs as a minor.
What is your favorite memory from Rabun Gap so far?
My favorite memory at Rabun gap would be during Christmas time, few of the older girls in Irene decided to play a prank on some of us, they would knock on the door and leave Santa with a note and run away and hide!
What advice would you give to another student who just came here as a boarding student to Rabun Gap?
Make sure you prioritize yourself and get your work done.

Tell us your favorite part about being a member of the golf team.
Getting to connect with girls that are my age about golf, most golfers are men and when our team comes together we truly uplift each other and push through the mental game.
What are your friendships like here at Rabun Gap?
They are very strong, my best friends are seniors and mostly international. I bring a lot of my friends home and we love to watch movies and eat snacks!
Tell us something interesting about yourself that we don’t otherwise know.
I plan on becoming a United States Senator.
