Rabun Gap 2 - Fairview 1

The Eagles were back at Home this evening to face Fairview in their second match this season. The ladies have been hard at work this week learning what it means to be a competitor and many of them showed their game faces tonight with a lot of growth. Milli Watts continued her serving domination in set one, scoring nine straight points to secure the Eagles a huge lead in the first set 16-4. Zoe Killian, 6th grade, showed that she has the grit and tenacity to be a future star for the Eagles making some nice point saving plays both in the back row and at the net. Avery Miller passed the ball well this evening, and LE Martin was the most consistent player off the bench for the Eagles with 6 digs, 3 service points, and no errors on the evening. The first set belonged to the Eagles as they rolled to a 25-14 victory. Set wins like this can sometimes mean that girls slow down in set two and that is exactly what happened to the Eagles. Complacency, lack of focus, and slow feet got the ladies in trouble as they found themselves down to Fairview 10-4 in the second set. Another 6th grader, Carson Hill, came in at just the right time to bail the Eagles out, and actually secured the lead 11-10 with her serving as she put in 7 straight points. The Libero in training tonight, Eve Kelly, was learning on the job and did fantastic work for the Eagles in the passing game in her first major game experience. The Eagles were stunned in the second as they let the set melt away on their complacency 23-25. Shocked, the Eagles were a different team when they took the court in set three. Balls were passed up, and the setters did their job to get balls to hitters. Milli Watts again went crazy serving and the Eagles rolled to a 15-4 third set victory winning the set and match 2-1. Coach BySura had this to say after the game, "Great team win today. We played all 14 girls who dressed in the main game, and it was awesome seeing some of the differences. I watched them grow as individuals in just a little over an hour. Girls who were once afraid to serve, didn't hesitate to jump right in tonight and try to make a difference. Just excellent to see them perform and overcome their own internal adversity even if they made errors, they stayed in it mentally tonight. Big improvement."

The Ladies are on the road again tomorrow as they head to Next School Eagle Ridge in South Carolina.
