Lower Schooler Maddie Newsom ‘27 ambassador for Plastic Ocean Project

Maddie Newsom '27 helps protect the environment as a Plastic Ocean Project ambassador.
Lower Schooler Maddie Newsom ‘27 came to school bearing gifts this week that will help protect the environment.

Maddie is one of the youngest Plastic Ocean Project Ambassadors. She was nominated this summer to join the program. She has been advocating to "skip the straw" to help keep plastics out of the worlds' oceans.

The goal of the organization's ambassador program is to create a collective community focused on reducing plastic use. Maddie designed reusable straws for the students of the Lower School. Maddie presented on the topic on September 24 during Morning Message and then gave her fellow students the reusable straws.
