Rabun Gap 0 - Highlands 2

The Eagles were on the road in their third straight game in 4 days as they took on tri-state rival Highlands. Starting things off early for the Eagles was Taylor Nickerson, who played a stellar all around game tonight. She was nearly perfect serving on the evening and scooped up almost every pass that came to her in the back row. She started the Eagles strong with 5 straight serving points to get the Eagles a good lead. Highlands would claw back and volley points would go both ways for almost the entire set before the Eagles fell apart with the score 19-19. Highlands would serve the last points in on a shell-shocked Eagles serve-receive that came up empty at end of the set. Highlands wins set 1 20-25. In set two, the Eagles again found life and the volleys were incredible to watch. Milli Watts was like a lightning bolt, saving balls and knocking them down at the net. The Eagles kept a two point lead late into the set, until some tough serving and hitting by Highlands took advantage of the Eagles back row with deep ball attacks. The Eagles fell in set two 21-25. Coach BySura had this to say after the game, "It's a hugely disappointing loss tonight. I am frustrated because I know they can play better then they did tonight, and several heads were not all in it. We were out of sync as a team, and not ready for the deep ball which I was concerned about coming in. This is something we will be focusing on in the coming week at practice. Overall, I am so proud of these ladies on the year so far, and their ability to learn on the fly with such little time to practice. We will be ready for this opponent again if we face them in the championship. I hope the outcome is different the next time around."

The Eagles get some needed practice time on Tues, Weds and then they are at Home Thursday versus Fairview and Friday is Away in South Carolina.

GO EAGLES! Keep your heads up. Disappointing loss, but we learn and move on. You're all doing your best and that's all anyone can ask. Keep it up!
