J. Tom Morgan scheduled to speak to Rabun Gap community

The author of Ignorance is No Defense, a teenager's guide to Georgia Law, will address students on September 3.
Rabun Gap will welcome nationally recognized legal expert J. Tom Morgan to campus on Tuesday, September 3 for an important talk with Upper and Middle School students. 

Morgan authored “Ignorance is No Defense,” a guide for teenagers on laws in Georgia. He served as the District Attorney of DeKalb County, Georgia for twelve years and was the first prosecutor in Georgia to specialize in the prosecution of crimes against children. Morgan has dedicated his career  to child advocacy and is committed to helping young people avoid being both victims and perpetrators of crimes. He has appeared CNN’s Talk Back Live, the Oprah Winfrey Show, Court TV, the Today Show, and 48 Hours.

“We’re looking forward having Mr. Morgan on campus to speak with our students. He will cover several topics including social media, digital footprints, and consent,” said Head of School Mr. Jeff Miles. “This is an important discussion for our students as they deal with the modern realities of life as adolescents.”

Mr. Morgan will speak to the Middle School at 10 AM and the Upper School at 11 AM in the Rearden Theater.
