Welcome to Alumni from the New Head of School

Dear Alumni Family,
I am writing to introduce myself and to initiate what I hope will be an ongoing conversation. As my wife Kiana and I, and our daughters, Lia (6) and Ali (3), settle into our new home on the Rabun Gap-Nacoochee School campus, we are excited at all we are experiencing. There is so much to learn, so much to celebrate about this exceptional school and community. The generous hospitality extended to us is unlike anything our family could have expected, and we are deeply appreciative to now call this special place home.

Experiencing this very warm welcome on campus inspires me to get to know the alumni from so many generations and families who have helped make Rabun Gap-Nacoochee School what it is today. Among the greatest joys of starting my new role is learning how wonderfully diverse of a family we are. It is a privilege to serve this amazing and storied institution: the more I see, the more engaged I become.

I have learned quickly the unique history that makes Rabun Gap one of the most meaningful missions to serve and lead in the country. The experiences and stories you all have shared over Rabun Gap’s long history is something special. From the days of the junior college and farm family tradition to each decade of change and growth that followed, the school’s story is written by each of you. Each of us carries a strand of the history, all of which weave together to form the greater  Rabun Gap-Nacoochee School narrative which unifies us as a family that cares about honoring the school’s past and ensuring its mission for future generations.

So let this serve as an invitation to get to know one another. Perhaps you’re headed back to campus for a visit. If so, let me know. Or perhaps we will meet when I begin to travel across the country and around the globe to meet alumni from all over the world. What a privilege it will be to steep myself more and more in your story, and in ours.

With gratitude and great anticipation,

Jeff Miles
