Middle Schoolers travel the world on International Day

Students at the Niles Bolton Middle School explored other countries during International Day on May 7.

The Middle School was transformed into a cultural learning hub on May 7 for Middle School International Day. As a way of celebrating the diversity present in the student body, students who hail from all corners of the globe were invited to share about their countries with their peers. Middle School international students set up stations in classes to teach their students about their home cultures.

Middle schoolers enjoyed an international feast in the dining hall before breaking into groups to visit the stations. In these stations, students had opportunities to try food, learn about history and traditions, and experience cultural art and music. The Upper School Global Awareness Panel also participated with presentations.

The day was organized by Ms. Stacy Caro and Ms. Maribel Aguirre. Middle School international students presenting included Angelica Ortiz ‘23 of Mexico, Mary Ma ‘23, Aimee Pan ‘23, Summer Tian ‘23, and Daniel Li ‘23, of China, Kotono Izuma ‘24 of Japan, Ronal Murillo '23 of Honduras, Giselle Okwunakwe '24 of Nigeria, Benit Jabo ‘23 of Rwanda.

“International Day was a great milestone for the Middle School and a fantastic way to celebrate culture and diversity within our school,” said Head of Middle School Mr. Bill Rothe.
