Rabun Gap remembers 65 years in the Addie Corn Ritchie Dining Hall

The final dinner in the Addie Corn Ritchie Dining Hall was served Feb. 28. The new Richard and John Woodruff Dining Hall will officially open after Spring Break.
The Rabun Gap-Nacoochee School community paused to give thanks on Thursday, Feb. 28 as the final meal was served in the Addie Corn Ritchie Dining Hall. The School will open its new dining facility, the Richard and John Woodruff Dining Hall, after students return from Spring Break on March 18. The new dining hall features a dining room that will seat more than 400, a grand foyer, large windows offering views of campus and an abundance natural light, a well-equipped and energy-efficient kitchen, a formal meeting room, a covered porch, and an expansive patio for meals and events.

The Addie Corn Ritchie Dining Hall was opened in 1954, serving generations of Rabun Gap students, employees, and farm families. Named after the wife of Rabun Gap’s founder Andrew Jackson Ritchie, the Addie Corn Ritchie Dining Hall was a gathering place fondly remembered by alumni and former faculty. The space will be preserved and renovated into a student center in the coming months.

Head of School Dr. Anthony Sgro shared a special prayer during the final dinner last month, thanking God for the nearly 70 years of meals and memories shared in the Addie Corn Ritchie Dining Hall.
