Coach Roger Cox works at Snow Valley Camp this summer

The Rabun Gap basketball coach spent part of the summer at America’s premier basketball camp

Coach Roger Cox, Head Basketball Coach and Associate Director of Admissions, worked this summer for the fifth year in a row at Snow Valley Basketball Camp in Iowa. Snow Valley, in its 26th year,  is considered the number one basketball teaching camp in America and is devoted to improving the skills of young basketball players. Coach Cox worked two sessions and was the lead instructor for seven clinics this year.

Each summer I am honored to be given the opportunity to work with the other coaches and campers by teaching skills in small groups, coaching teams in practices and games, and by leading clinic sessions on various topics. Snow Valley Basketball Camp Iowa attracts some of the best coaches from around the country and world. Not only are these coaches talented and experienced, but they truly care about each other, about the campers, and about doing good for others through basketball. It reminds me in many ways of Rabun Gap,” said Coach Cox.

One of the founders, Mr. Don Showalter, still works at the camp. Mr. Showalter is the Head Coach and Youth Division Director for USA Basketball. In his career, he has won many gold medals with USA basketball, including this summer with the World Cup Under 17 USA team in Argentina.

Several of Rabun Gap’s own students have attended this camp, including Adama Kpaan ‘18, Jonathan McFall '18, Abba Wague '18, Avery Rivera '20, Bruno Zandamela '20 and N'fari Benjamin '21.
