Coach Shawn Bryson selected for NFL's Bill Walsh Diversity Coaching Fellowship

Coach Bryson will work with the Oakland Raiders during training camp next month.
Rabun Gap-Nacoochee School’s Head Football Coach Shawn Bryson has been selected for the National Football League Bill Walsh Diversity Coaching Fellowship and will be working with professional football players this summer as a part of the program.

Coach Bryson spent three days in June alongside members of the Oakland Raiders at the team’s training facility in Alameda, California. Bryson said he shadowed the Raiders’ Running Back Coach Jemal Singleton and sat in on meetings with the running backs. He will return in late July for 10 days to be a part of the team’s training camp.

“During the three days that I spent in OTA's, I had a great experience learning from Head Coach John Gruden and his staff. Anytime there's opportunities to learn from some of the greatest coaches and players in the game, it's valued,” said Coach Bryson. “I look forward to July's training camp and learning more from the Raiders staff.”

The Bill Walsh Diversity Coaching Fellowship’s objective is to use NFL teams training camps, offseason workout programs and minicamps to give talented coaches opportunities to observe, participate and gain experience. All 32 NFL clubs participate each year.

Coach Bryson said several other former NFL players are a part of the experience. Before coming to coach the Rabun Gap Eagles, Coach Bryson spent eight years in the NFL, playing for the Buffalo Bills and the Detroit Lions. He joined Rabun Gap in 2017 and completed his first season as Head Coach last season.
