Five Rabun Gap baseball players selected in All-Rabun County Team

Devyn Munroe ’19, Gai Kumamoto ’20, Harrison Shomaker ’18, and Justin Sanchez ’22, Jake Knowles ’20 were all selected by the Clayton Tribune for the  2018 All-Rabun County Baseball Team.
Devyn Munroe ’19, Gai Kumamoto ’20, Harrison Shomaker ’18, and Justin Sanchez ’22, Jake Knowles ’20 were all selected by the Clayton Tribune for the  2018 All-Rabun County Baseball Team. The five players were selected based on their outstanding individual performances during the 2018 baseball season. Go Eagles!

Devyn Munroe - Outfielder
Munroe, a native of the Bahamas, who also played as an infielder and pitcher, hit .270 with four doubles and one triple in his junior campaign. The Bahamian two home runs tied him for the county lead, and he scored 14 runs with 19.

Gai Kumamoto - Second Baseman
Kumamoto, a sophomore from Japan who also played some catcher, hit .354 for the year as the Eagles' leadoffhitter. He scored 22 runs and had 10 RBIs, with three doubles, two triples and a home run.

Harrison Shomaker - First Baseman
Shomaker was the senior leader for the Eagles, hitting in the third spot in the order and pitching to a 3.20 ERA. He hit .348 with five doubles, one home run, 17 runs and 15 RBIs.

Justin Sanchez - Outfielder
San­chez, an eighth-grader from Brooklyn, New York, only hit for a .212 average, but had 13 RBIs and scored eight runs, with two doubles and one triple on the season.

Jake Knowles - Catcher
Knowles, a Bahamian sophomore who was also the number-one starting pitcher for the Eagles, led the team in most offen­sive categories, hitting .429 with 13 extra-base hits-two of them home runs -22 runs scored and 13 RBIs.
