Many alumni returned to campus June 1-2 for a weekend of memories
It was a weekend of memories and meeting with classmates for Rabun Gap alumni on June 1-2.
The annual Heritage Homecoming celebration kicked off Friday, June 1 with afternoon registration and refreshments at the Alumni Heritage Center. Alumni enjoyed gathering on the front porch reminiscing with friends, and viewing photos, yearbooks, and other memorabilia from the Rabun Gap Archives.
On Saturday morning, the 2018 Alumni Memorial Chapel service was held in the Emily and Ernest Woodruff Chapel on campus. More than 50 alumni, faculty, and family members gathered to remember the Rabun Gap alumni who have passed away since last year’s event. Rev. Dr. Leonard Marr ’67 offered the Scripture and Homily.

The Rabun Gap Alumni Association held its annual meeting during lunch in the Addie Corn Ritchie Dining Hall, where they heard an update on the School from Head of School Dr. Anthony Sgro. Dr. Sgro talked about plans for the new dining hall, opening of the Evelyne Sheats Lower School, Rabun Gap’s STEAM program, and future plans for campus. The Alumni Association scholarship recipient, Elizabeth Taylor ‘19 of Franklin, NC, addressed alumni in attendance and shared excitement for her senior year.
After lunch, attendees were treated to cobbler and ice cream during a special dessert reception honoring Rabun Gap’s farm families and farm workers.
