Rabun Gap celebrates seniors' college decisions

May 1 was National College Decision Day.
Rabun Gap-Nacoochee School celebrated its 80 seniors and their collegiate plans on Tuesday, May 1.

May 1 is National College Decision Day, marking the deadline for students to choose where they will attend college for the 2018-2019 academic year. At Rabun Gap, 100% of graduating seniors are accepted to college.

"Our students attend the most competitive colleges across the globe. We are also very proud of the scholarships they are receiving this year,” said Head of School Dr. Anthony Sgro.

Rabun Gap’s Class of 2018 has earned, in total, 295 acceptances from top-tier liberal arts colleges to the most renowned research universities. Of these, Rabun Gap seniors had 45 acceptances from institutions in the U.S. News & World Report’s Top 50 list, including Carnegie Mellon University, Tufts University, Duke University, the Georgia Institute of Technology, Emory University, New York University, and the University of California.

“We are proud of our seniors and their many choices,” said Mrs. Cheryl Barber, Director of College Counseling. “It is a long and challenging process to find that college fit and we are honored to be a part of guiding students and families towards their next phase of the academic journey.”

Rabun Gap held a special college spirit wear day on May 1, and seniors showed off their college of choice.
