Lower School classes publish books

The Lower School held book parties in classrooms this month.
Each class at the Eveylne Sheats Lower School has published a book containing original writing by every student in the class. The project, coordinated by third grade teacher Mrs. Laura Anderson, celebrates the writing process and is the celebration of our Writing Workshop experience in each classroom this year. Students were also treated to a conversation with Ms. Mirna Valerio, upper school teacher and author of A Beautiful Work in Progress. Ms. Valerio shared with students about how she started writing, about what a book agent is, all about her book tour, and even shared photos of her process to becoming a writer.

Some of the class book titles included “Kindergarten How To,” “Twisted Tales,” “There Once was a Shape,” “The Best Part of Me ,” “Together we can Change the World,” and more.

Classes held book release parties this month, inviting their parents and families to see the finished books and hear students read their work out loud. Click here to see photos from the book parties.
