MADFest 2018 showcases best of student talent

Dorian Provencher '18 and Jazmyn Pickstock '19 earned Audience Choice Award
A variety of acts represented the best of Rabun Gap student talent on Friday, April 13, during the MADFest showcase.

Upper School students competed during auditions Thursday to earn a chance to perform in the showcase. A panel of four community judges representing expertise in music, art, drama, and dance provided valuable feedback for the young artists.

Dorian Provencher ‘18 and Jazmyn Pickstock '19Jasmine Pickstock ‘18 stole the show Friday night with their performance “Funk Formation,” earning the Audience Choice Award. See list below for all of the award winners.

For the first time this year, a student film festival was incorporated into MADFest. Participants were given 24 hours to create an original film on the theme of hope. Their films were shown between acts in the showcase.

Student art entries were also a part of MADFest. A variety of 2-D, 3-D, painting, and photography pieces were on display in the A&T building.

Three Middle School students — Dustin Anderson ‘22 (dance), Morgan Mescher ‘24 (dance) and Lucy Barry ‘22 (vocal solo) — earned the opportunity to perform alongside their Upper School peers at MADFest. The trio of acts closed the show on a high note and left the audience looking forward to the next generation of Rabun Gap performers.
