Middle School opens new design and fabrication studio

New design studio integrates technology into all subject areas at the Middle School.
Thanks to a generous foundation grant and a parent donor, the Middle School has opened a new design and fabrication studio, complete with three powerful computers and a 3D printer. The Center is available to all MS classes, making it possible to integrate technology into all subject areas.

In this photo, Aidan McMullen and Mattox Payne took to the new design and fabrication center as part of their Algebra I class.  The team is running a simulated business, using the equipment to design and manufacture products. The project ties in their advanced math skills as they figure out business-related calculations, including production cost curves, projected revenue, and break-even points.

In addition to designing 3D objects, the computers also enable students to work with a variety of other technologies, including programming robots, virtual reality, editing videos, and creating podcasts.  Go Eagles!
